- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan thoroughly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is thin but well incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
For the ultimate fudgy texture, don't overmix the batter after adding the boiling water. The hot water helps bloom the cocoa powder, creating deep chocolate flavor. Use room temperature ingredients for even mixing and better rise. The cake tastes better the next day as flavors develop.
