Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 8-10 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. Pat chicken drumsticks completely dry with paper towels. This crucial step ensures proper browning and prevents steaming.
  2. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Rub this mixture evenly over all chicken pieces.
  3. Place chicken in a single layer in your crockpot. Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pot (not over the chicken).
  4. Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours. The chicken should be tender and easily pull away from the bone.
  5. Carefully remove chicken from crockpot and place on a baking sheet. Brush generously with BBQ sauce.
  6. Broil for 3-5 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and develops that perfect BBQ crust.

Notes

Always pat chicken dry before seasoning. Use chicken broth instead of water in crockpot. Don't add BBQ sauce until final broiling step. Let chicken rest 5 minutes after broiling for juices to redistribute.
